Update by Riikka: I attended the world premiere of Ethan Hawke’s The Hottest State yesterday at the Venice Film Festival. The film itself was lovely and Catalina Sandino Moreno was charming in the role of Sarah. I also got to meet Catalina herself and got an autograph and a photo taken with her. She was absolutely graceful and friendly and if possible - even more beautiful in person than in pictures!

Thanks to Mariana for all of the Venice picture coverage. I will add my own photos once I get back to Scotland.

Update by Riikka: Catalina Sandino Moreno is in negotiations to star in the Mike Newell-directed Love in the Time of Cholera for New Line Cinema.

Moreno, who toplined the Fine Line release Maria Full of Grace, joins Javier Bardem, Benjamin Bratt and Giovanna Messogiorno in the adaptation of the Gabriel Garcia Marquez tome.

She would play the role of Hildebranda Sanchez. Story is described as a 50-year love triangle set in turn-of-the-century South America.

Scott Steindorff is producing through his Stone Village Pictures. Chris Law and Dylan Russell are executive producing with Scott LaStaiti and Brantley Dunaway co-producing. Ronald Harwood adapted for the screen.

Two of Catalina’s projects, Paris je t’aime and Fast Food Nation, will see their world premiere at the 59th Cannes Film Festival, which will take place between 17-28th May in Cannes, France. Update by Riikka: mono811 at IMDb reports that Catalina and David Elwell got married a few days ago in Cartagena, Colombia! They met while filming Maria Full of Grace and have lived together since 2002.

I have not been able to find any official announcements so I cannot confirm this as a fact but nevertheless, I would like to wish all the best to the couple!
